About the Artists
Shanique Stewart was initially self-taught and eventually graduated from Sculpture at Edna Manley College. She designed and painted this mural while being in her final college year. A very creative artist from St. Vincent who creates organically and delves deep in any project she designs. She enjoys teaching others and is an excellent team lead.

Process
An Open Call for design was sent out and 9 submissions received. Shanique’s design was chosen because of her vibrant style and detail in meaning.

Artist statement
The Star of David Represents…Unity and good deeds. The overlapping triangles forming a star are the two dimensions that represent the relationship between God and Humanity. The upward facing triangle represents God’s laws and scriptures, whereas the downward facing triangle represents Jews studying and applying their teachings. Good Deeds Plants, flowers and fruits Sunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty and longevity, power, respect and hospitality. The Olive tree brings symbolism of friendship and reconciliation, cleansing and healing, light, victory and richness and, above all, a sign of peace.

The Colours have been selected carefully in order to bring out strong meaning. The bright Orange toned colours symbolize values such as courage, intelligence, loyalty and trust. Pink stands for positive values. Blue is a color that symbolizes peace, tranquility, trust, unity, calm, serenity and sensitivity.
Green is a color that is reminiscent of nature, it is natural,and it represents balance, permission and freshness but it can also symbolize happiness, harmony, optimism, peace, serenity. Yellow is a cheerful and lively color that represents joy, energy, sweetness. White represents mainly positive values such as purity, balance or innocence. It also makes us think of the calm, peace and serenity. It provides light and gives a fresh feeling.
