In response to the impact of Covid-19, the C.B. Facey Foundation , Fight for Peace, Digicel Foundation and Kingston Creative collaborated on a joint effort to employ local artisans to make masks for several inner city Kingston and St. Andrew communities. Through the venture, seamstresses and tailors from the Downtown Kingston Communities were contracted to make over 1,000 masks to be distributed across 10 communities. The project, which began on April 28, 2020, was made possible through funding provided by the C.B. Facey Foundation and Fight For Peace. It had the objectives of increasing the supply of masks, promoting the wearing of masks, and supporting the businesses of creative entrepreneurs from Downtown Kingston.The C.B. Facey Foundation, the charitable arm of PanJam Investment Limited, supports initiatives grounded in the Arts.
FUNDING
Sponsorship was provided by Digicel Foundation and Grace and Staff Community Development Foundation and funded the creation of 1,100 masks.
